Overview


This course will give students to understand the nature of business development in the context of existing organizations and of new business start-ups. Also understand the concepts of innovation and creativity and the roles that both play in entrepreneurship and business development.

Course description


In this course, students learn the essential attributes of an entrepreneur and the stages one goes through in taking the seed of an idea and growing it into a successful business. This course provides practical insights into the sometimes unique entrepreneur mindset and skills required in IT environment. Some technical knowledge will be incorporated in learning to improve understanding of students. The students will also explore different kinds of IT start-up and traditional IT business through case studies so they can learn how to identify the right opportunities and able to calculate risks accurately.

Course objectives


After the course, students can identify and discuss common and essential attributes of entrepreneurs and the various motives for creating a new IT business venture.
